The law of Ladder - "Character growth 📈 determines the height of your personal growth "
Character is a strength of the mind. It can also be defined as a complex of traits marking a Person, group , breed, or Type.
Character is a uniqueness of traits identified with a particular set of persons or group, in a very simple understanding.
Leaders are identified with particular kind of traits and one of them is HONESTY, there are many more but all linked to Honesty.
So we must build the strength of our character daily. It is very much possible to build a strong character and identify yourself with it. It requires a lot of patience as you grow and learn. Nothing good ever comes easy. We must accept the sacrifices involved in making and refining ourselves to a polished product. One of the ways is to set our priorities right.✔️
"To be success, think like success" -John Maxwell
James Kouzes and Barry Posner - "In almost every survey conducted , honesty has been selected often than any other leadership characteristics "
How to build a strong character 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
1️⃣ FOCUS ON BEING BETTER ON THE INSIDE, THAN ON THE OUTSIDE.
It is normally our desire to appear very attractive on the outside. Yes, that's cool but how about refining and polishing the inside. Same way we worry about looking good outside , let's also prioritize beautifying the INSIDE.
Reasons why we should focus on the inside. 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
💠 The inside, influences the outside
💠 Inside victories always preceed the outside
💠 Inside development is usually within our control
Character is one particular quality that embodies other traits as confidence, intergrity, Courage, wisdom, perseverance, confidence, consistency, Loyalty, Patience et cetera.
2️⃣ FOLLOW THE GOLDEN RULE-People matter.
" Here is a simple rule, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, grab the initiative and do it for them " -THE MESSAGE
3️⃣ TEACH ONLY WHAT YOU BELIEVE-
There is no point teaching what you don't believe. It's a total waste of time because no passion and therefore no power on it because it is a borrowed idea, not borne out of conviction.
4️⃣ VALUE HUMILITY ABOVE ALL VIRTUES.
"The life of every man is a diary in which he writes one story and writes another ; and his humblest hour is when he compares the volume as it is with what he hoped to make " -J.M Barrie
Humility is a quality of being humble. Humility means setting your priorities right and following it. Humility is demonstrated best by understanding yourself and knowing your limits and keeping to them. Humility is boldness and not timidness. Humility is understanding what is best for you and being loyal to it. Humility is doing for others what you have them do for you.
Here are some tips to guide us 👇🏽
❕ Remember the big picture- Remind yourself of the big picture 🖼️-Your Life 🧬 Goals. If you remember that , you will always remember your Limit and possible ways to deal with it.
❕ Recognize that everyone has a weakness.
As Leaders, we must recognize that every human being has at least one weakness and we must learn ways to accomadate and help people out of their weakness notwithstanding also discovering ways to deal with our own weaknesses first.
❕Be teachable.
One way to recognize a humble person , is one who is teachable. Accept and know you don't know everything. You must understand that Learning NEVER ends, and that is a sign that you're ready for the shift. No matter how much you study and research , there are lots of things you have no idea about. So stay humble , and seek to Learn. A good trait of Humility is Listening- Your ability to listen is one criteria to unravel the vast view of the world to you. Be willing to Learn by Listening more.
❕Be willing to serve others-
A lot of immature leaders want to be served but never want to serve. Leadership is service. I remember one of my Leadership course exercise with Young African leaders initiative (YALI) - SERVANT LEADERSHIP. In that context , it teaches us that Leadership originated from the concept of serving others rather than being served. How well are you serving others in your niche?
❕Be grateful-
John Maxwell noted , "Those who drink the water , must remember those who dug the well"
You must be grateful to those who put you through , those who sacrificed for whatever you enjoy without stress. For instance, the world is grateful to many personalities in the likes of Bill gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff bezos, Nelson Mandela, Tony Elemelu and many others...Mark made Facebook available for social networking, Jeff made Amazon available where you buy and sell, Bill gates made Microsoft available in our time, Tony has been supportive to thousands of young Africans on business idea 💡 and funding, Nelson Mandela solved the problem of apartheid. The works of these personalities and many more in our time cannot be written off. We are grateful for all the sacrifices and HERE WE ARE living the benefits of their efforts.
Confucius, asserted " Humility is the solid foundation of all virtues "
5️⃣ STRIVE TO FINISH WELL-
Take care of your behavior and your emotions will fall into place- Maxwell
You can start by making a pledge-personal , to be determined and keep building and living of the highest standard until death. That will remind you to avoid anything petty and focus on the Big Picture.
Applying the law of the ladder 🪜🪜
👉🏽 Access where you put most of your focus on up until this point of your life.
👉🏽 Plan to serve others more
👉🏽 One of our virtues as Noble Leaders is to become better and make our planet Earth 🌎 better. Awareness is not enough, application is the key. You err? No probs- you can always re-align to standards conforming to making our world better.
Norman Schwarzkopf - "Ninety-nine percent of LEADERSHIP failures are failures of CHARACTER"
We care about you and your personal growth 📈
