MANAGEMENT TIPS
PREVENT AI FROM ERODING YOUR TEAM'S TRUST |
AI can help employees work more efficiently, but relying on it instead of colleagues can weaken team relationships. When people stop turning to each other for input, they lose sight of their teammates’ expertise, making collaboration harder. As a manager, you can prevent this erosion of trust and coordination by helping your team use AI without sacrificing human connection. Encourage regular communication. Keep your team connected through frequent check-ins and asynchronous channels like Slack, email, or Teams. Regular exchanges help employees stay informed about one another’s work and expertise—even when they use AI independently. Build psychological safety. Make asking questions and admitting mistakes feel as safe as consulting AI. Create an environment where employees can seek help without fearing judgment. Establish new team norms. Encourage transparency about how and when employees use AI. Reward collective outcomes rather than individual AI productivity, and prioritize using AI to augment employees’ work rather than replace it. Use AI to strengthen conversations. Encourage employees to use AI to prepare for difficult discussions. Practicing with AI can reduce anxiety and build confidence for meaningful interactions with colleagues.
